The IPNDV brought together more than 40 participants for a four-day Working Group Meeting from March 7 to March 10, 2022. This virtual event was an opportunity the Partners to plan and coordinate activities for 2022. In particular, the participants spent much of the time reviewing and adjusting the concept for the three-day tabletop exercise (JUNEX22) to be held in Brussels, Belgium in June.

Over the course of the week, the Technology Track, the Host Task Group, and the Inspector Task group each held working group meetings. These meetings discussed ongoing work such as papers and technical guides as well as specific activities to support JUNEX22. Participants also received a briefing on a nuclear warhead verification project funded by the State Department’s “Key Verification Assets Fund.” This project is an on-going initiative by the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.  This was followed by a Q&A session with Rose Gottemoeller, former Deputy Secretary General of NATO and former Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security at the U.S. Department of State.
